Paul's early interests were Art, Woodwork and Cars but in 1986 he focused his career on guitar making.

His first Instruments were traditional in design, but in 1993 he predominantly changed to lattice bracing. In his own words:

"This is not a rejection of the traditional way of building a guitar, but a realisation of the inherent virtues and weaknesses of the traditional design, with the idea being to build out the weaknesses (using the lattice) and build in the virtues, this is an ongoing process".

Sheridan uses a lattice bracing similar to Smallmans but it runs along a vertical and horizontal plain, he prefers Swiss Pine and Red Cedar for tops.

The backs are an arched construction usually of Pau Ferro although Sheridan also uses native Australian timbers such as Tasmanian Blackwood, Padauk and Indian rosewood.
