Eugene started guitar making in 1984, and was taught guitar construction by Greg Smallman, on whose specifications his guitars are also based.

His guitar making career took off in earnest when Tim Kain's "Guitar Trek" commissioned two requento guitars, since then his waiting list has steadily grown as players and teachers have discovered his excellent guitars.

Eugene's rosette differentiate his guitars from Smallman. They have a distinctive rustic look which takes advantage of the natural beauty of the wood, each rosette is slightly different.

Eugene Philp is a colourful fellow who is very passionate about the sound and performance of this guitars.
