Zbigniew Gnatek studied classical guitar in Europe and Australia and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He also has an extensive background in sound production and acoustics with a degree in Audio Engineering. This combined with his extraordinary wood working and French polishing skills make him one of Australia's most talented young makers.
A significant part of Zgibniew's work is research and experimentation, and his background as an accomplished guitarist and experienced musican informs his adventures in guitar making. One of the most important aspects of his development as a luthier is the time spent with the newly made instruments, countless hours of playing giving him the ultimate feedback on his craftsmanship. This background in performing/studying guitar enables Zbigniew to critically and precisely evaluate his own instruments.
Working alone, only with the best quality materials, Zbigniew Gnatek considers that guitar making is not only his profession but also his passion, and perhaps obsession ...
Many well known classical guitarists play Zbigniew's beautifully crafted instruments, among them such renowned performers as Costas Cotsiolis (Greece), Krzysztof Pelech (Poland), and Carsten Grondal (Sweden).
Industry comments:
"... this is the guitar I would play a concert on ..." (Scott Tennant - Los Angeles Guitar Quartet)
"... this guitar is the best cross between the Smallman and a traditional guitar that I have ever played ..." Timothy Kain, (renowned Australian player, Head of Canberra School of Music)
